Neuroscientists have discovered a new type of brain cell in a region of the human brain thought to be responsible for human consciousness.

The researchers are speculating that the brain cell may be unique to humans as it has never been seen in lab rodents. Researchers think that the intriguing cells may comprise one of the characteristics that set humans apart from animals.
