If you didn’t know, Canton Avenue in Pittsburgh is the steepest public street in the United States.

The street has a 37 percent gradient, and it apparent caught the eye of Audi for its new commercial.

According to Audi, “Four exceptional Red Bull athletes participated in the challenge. Among them is Audi race driver and DTM champion Mattias Ekström, freestyle skier Bene Mayr, professional snowboarder Heikki Sorsa and downhill mountain biker Aaron Gwin.”

Snow, mud, and gravel were then placed on the street.

Some say it’s the world’s steepest street (not just in the U.S.), but the title of world’s steepest street has been disputed.

Baldwin Street in Dunedin, New Zealand, was credited as being the world’s steepest residential street, according to Guinness World Records. It has a maximum gradient of 38 percent.

Other steep streets include Côte St-Ange in Chicoutimi, Quebec, Canada, with a 33% gradient; Filbert and 22nd Streets in San Francisco, with each having 31 to 31.5%; and Hardknott Pass in Cumbria, England with a 33% gradient.
