The Brooklyn Nets (8-4) used a late 20–6 run to break a fourth-quarter tie and pull away from the Portland Trail Blazers (6-7) 98–85 Sunday at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Joe Johnson scored 11 of the Nets’ first 20 points as Brooklyn led most of the first quarter. Johnson would finish with a team-high 21 points on 10/19 shooting.
The Nets trailed at the break 50–46 and after a back-and-forth third quarter found themselves tied at 74 with just over eight minutes left when C.J. Watson hit a three to start the run.
By the time Kris Humphries made a layup with 1:57 left the Nets had a 94–80 lead and the game was all but over. Humphries finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Deron Williams contributed 15 points and 12 assists with center Brook Lopez also scored 15.
