Devastating play and gritty determination by Netherlands in their 2nd match of The FIVB Volleyball Grand Prix finals in Bangkok on Thursday July 7, gave them a 3-2 upset win against China (23-25, 25-14, 19-25, 25-19, 25-8). Netherlands always playing catch up in the first 3 sets, came back from 2 sets to 1 down to take the match. The scores in the final game in particular shows the confidence that Netherlands picked up as the match progresses. This leaves the standings in Pool J: USA 3, Netherlands 2 and China 1, going into the final Pool J match between USA and China tonight Friday July 8.

In Pool K Brazil took their match against Russia 3-0 (25-22, 25-10, 25-21) to confirm their top of the Pool position and semi-finals place with 6 points. Russia play Thailand tonight to decide the other finalist from this pool.

The winner of Pool J will play 2nd in Pool K; while 1st in Pool K will play 2nd in Pool J. Winners of the Semi-finals will play off for the Championship title while the semi-final looser will play meet to decide 3rd and 4th place.
