The latest NBA trade rumor on deadline day has Oklahoma City sending Reggie Jackson and other players to Brooklyn in a package for Brook Lopez.
The Thunder have long coveted Lopez and appear close to finally landing him, sources told Yahoo.
The key component to the deal is convincing Jackson to pledge loyalty to Brooklyn. Jackson will be a restricted free agent this offseason.
If the deal gets done, the Nets would move Jarrett Jack in a separate deal to clear the backcourt a bit. Jackson would likely start at point guard, fulfilling his desire.
ESPN confirmed the report and said sources told it that the teams are investigating adding a third team to the process.
Sam Amick of USA Today added, regarding the report, that the sense from Jackson’s side is that the deal likely gets done.
Marc Stein of ESPN said that the latest word is “close but not done.”
Chris Broussard of ESPN said that the deal that’s close to being done would be Lopez for Jackson, Kendrick Perkins and his expiring contract, and Perry Jones.
If Jones isn’t included, Jeremy Lamb will likely be. It would also seem Brooklyn would demand at least one draft pick.
