The NBA trade rumors in early 2014 are still rampant leading up to the February 20 trade deadline.

Let’s check out some of the latest rumors.

-The Phoenix Suns are exploring acquiring Pau Gasol of the Los Angeles Lakers, reported ESPN. It’s possible that the Suns could send a draft pick and Emeka Okafor (an expiring contract) to the Lakers for Gasol, who has a big contract that the Lakers may want to get rid of.

-The Philadelphia 76ers are looking to deal swingman Evan Turner, sources told Sporting News. They want a draft pick in return. They’ve also shopped center Spencer Hawes and forward Thaddeus Young.

The problem is that a Turner deal might not happen because he can become a restricted free agent this summer, or an unrestricted free agent if the Sixers don’t extend a $8.7 million qualifying offer. “It wouldn’t be smart to give up assets for a player you think you can just sign on your own in July,” one general manager said. “If you don’t need to trade anything away to get him, then why would you?”
