The playoff standings are going to shift some in the coming weeks as the bottom slots in both the Eastern and Western conferences are up for grabs.

The West is basically a nine team race unless the Timberwolves go on a tear the rest of the season. The Memphis Grizzlies (36-26)over the weekend overtook the Phoenix Suns (36-26) for the eighth spot by winning two straight while the Suns lose their last game.

The Dallas Mavericks (38-26) and Golden State Warriors (40-24) are also close to the bottom.

The race is more interesting in the East, because it’s basically an 11 team race to get the eight spots. The Atlanta Hawks (26-35) are in a freefall after losing six straight, and could drop from the eighth spot soon. The Detroit Pistons, New York Knicks, and Cleveland Cavaliers are all three or three and a half games behind and looking to climb up. See the full standings below.
