NBA 2K14, which has been relatively buggy for some users, got a few software updates this week.
The large patch combined with server issues locked some players out of parts of the game’s online content on Tuesday, according to reports.
“NBA 2k14 servers wtf I got this game for the first time ever just to realize that the servers are not working properly really!!! ( ps4),” wrote one user.
“Fix the 2K servers for PS4 #NBA2K14 @2K,” another added Wednesday.
Tweeted another user, “Do the NBA 2k14 servers work? Why am I asking? Of course they don’t.”
The server issue meant that some people couldn’t use virtual money, used to buy attributes and goods for custom players.
There’s also still issues with the MyTeam and private TeamUp matches
2K Games’ Ronnie Singh said via Twitter that the fix for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 is done, while the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 fixes will be initiated Jan. 14.
NBA 2K14 is the best-selling sports game for the Xbox One and the PS4, outselling Madden NFL 25 and FIFA 14.
“If you see the current generation and the next gen of NBA 2K14 together, we have actually sold more units combined than we did in 2013 on only the current gen,” Take-Two President Karl Slatoff said, according to the IB Times.
“So people hear so many in the industry right now about the issues that developers have in the transition period and the hazard that are related to the transition, which are all true. But in specific situations, we have only one game right now for the next gen. We are not seeing that.”
But over the past few weeks, 2K’s support Twitter has been hammered by complaints–sometimes several per hour.
