The body of U.S. Navy pilot Lt. Clinton Wermer was found early Wednesday morning in Lake Ponchatrain near New Orleans.
The T-34 Turbomentor that Wermer and a student pilot were flying was found 15 feet below the surface of the water. Wermer’s body was discovered near the site.
Wermer’s plane had crashed into the lake on Saturday night.
According to WKRG news, the Coast Guard was contacted by Air Traffic Control at 6:40 p.m. that Wermer’s plane was no longer on the radar. The student pilot was found alive a few hours later.
