National Grid US says that 29,000 customers have lost power due to high winds and rain in eastern Massachusetts on Wednesday.

A Nor'easter storm is currently over much of the northeastern US and Canada.

The power company gave the update at around 9:30 p.m. ET.

It’s unclear when the power will be returned.

NSTAR said about 6,000 customers were without power.

Power outages, gusty winds in Massachusetts
BOSTON (AP) — The National Weather Service is warning of gusty northeast winds in coastal areas of eastern Massachusetts from an offshore storm.

The weather service issued a high wind warning for eastern Massachusetts including the Boston area until Thursday morning, with winds of 25 to 35 mph and gusts up to 60 mph.

There were scattered reports of trees and branches down and power outages Wednesday evening, mostly northeast of Boston. There were no reports of major damage or injuries.

At mid-evening, National Grid was reporting about 21,000 customers without electricity. NSTAR reported about 7,000 customers out, scattered in eastern Massachusetts.

A flood watch was issued for widespread overnight rainfall of up to 2.5 inches with the potential for localized flooding.
