Naguib Damji, a Vancouver-area resident, has been identified as the second Canadian killed in the attack in Kenya.
Damji and at least 67 others were killed in the attack, which had a group of al-Shabab gunmen enter a mall and begin shooting people on September 21.
The other Canadian was already identified as Annemarie Desloges, a diplomat.
Damji’s family requested privacy.
“The family is very deeply saddened by the tragedy and kindly request their privacy during this devastating time,” his daughter Karima told Global News in a Facebook message.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper issued a statement on Saturday.
“The hearts and prayers of all Canadians go out to the families and friends of all those affected by this senseless tragedy, and we extend our deepest condolences to those suffering the loss of Annemarie Desloges, one of our diplomats who has died in the attack,” Harper said.
