Muhammad Ali Attends Celebrity Fight Night to Raise Money for Parkinson’s Disease

Muhammad Ali attended a star-studded event last weekend in Phoenix, Ariz., known as Celebrity Fight Night to raise money for the fight against Parkinson’s Disease.

The huge fundraising event was hosted by Reba McEntire, who has held the job for more than a decade now.

Celebrities and professional athletes from all over the country came to show their support and help raise money for the disease, including, Kurt Warner, David Foster, RFK Jr., Brooks & Dunn, and singer Carrie Underwood.   

Underwood won a Muhammad Ali Celebrity Fight Night Award. The award acknowledges leaders in the sports, entertainment, and business communities who best represent the qualities associated with the champ and his fight to find a cure for Parkinson’s disease, according to the official website.

The money raised went to different organizations such as: the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center, Phoenix Children’s Hospital, and Barrow Neurological Foundation.

$118 million has been raised since Celebrity Fight Night was launched 22 years ago.

Ali, the 74-year-old legendary boxer has been battling Parkinson’s disease, a brain disorder, since being diagnosed in 1984.

According to the National Parkinson Foundation, there are about 60,000 new cases each year, and roughly one million people in the United States currently have Parkinson’s disease.
