MTA Subway Service Nears Full Recovery

[xtypo_dropcap]T[/xtypo_dropcap]he Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (MTA) subway service will be at close-to-normal operations for Wednesday evening’s rush hour, the MTA announced on its website.

Service has been restored to near-normal levels on most subway lines as of Wednesday morning including on the Brighton B and Q lines, after New York City Transit crews worked round the clock to remove snow.

However, due to an ongoing loss of power and rail condition at Sheepshead Bay, a station shared by B and Q trains, B line is shut down between Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue station and 145th Street station and uptown Q trains are running on the D line between Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue station and DeKalb Avenue station.

As of 3 p.m., the Franklin Avenue Shuttle and N train service are not running between Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue station and Whitehall Street station in Brooklyn.

The blizzard that hit New York City and the rest of the Northeast on Sunday has clogged rails, signals, and switches on open-cut and elevated sections in Brooklyn.

The Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North Railroad will be operating at near-normal levels for Wednesday evening’s rush hour.

Bus service is still limited and marked with delays and suspensions, particularly with the road conditions in Southern Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island.

The National Weather Service predicts mostly clear weather for Wednesday night with a low of about 22 degrees.
