EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - After missing majority of last season, RB David Wilson says that he’s waiting on an MRI to determine his return back on the football field.
Wilson, 22, injured his neck against Philadelphia back on October 6th that essentially placed him on IR. He underwent surgery ten days later on a herniated disk.
During the game against Philadelphia, Wilson said that he never felt pain after the injury occurred.
“I never had pain from the injury, even after it happened, the day after it happened, the moment after it happened,” Wilson said in a press release. “I’m in the locker room telling the coaches, ‘Let me go back out there, I don’t feel anything.’ I snuck out on the field and was removed.”
Wilson said he expects to be back on the field but the only thing that’s keeping the optimism down is an MRI and confirmation from the doctor.
“I passed every test except a picture and that’s the only reason I’m not on the field,” Wilson said. “Because of pictures. Right now we just need to get the photograph that we need.”
If Wilson does in fact return back on the field, he would be apart of an improved backfield with newly acquired RB Rashad Jennings. Last season with Oakland, Jennings racked up 738 yards and six touchdowns.
“Both of us can be an every down back, but the way the game is today, it’s not going to be one guy,” Wilson said regarding Rashad Jennings. “There are very few teams that have one running back that’s always in there.”
