A Texas mother escaped her house with second- and third-degree burns after her son allegedly set their house on fire, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office reports.

The woman’s son, 26-year-old Louis Vasquez, was arrested on arson charges.

Channelview Fire Dept responded at about 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 30, to a one-story wood-framed house in Channelview, Texas, that had smoke and fire billowing out of it.

Police said there were two adults—a 43-year-old female, believed to be the mother, and a male adult, as well as two juvenile brothers, inside the home at the time, Chron.com reports. It’s not clear if the adult male was Vasquez.

Fire investigators believe that Vasquez used an open flame to set a couch in the house on fire.

Vasquez was booked into the Harris County Jail, ABC 13 reports.
