Shania Twain Carries the Torch

Country singer Shania Twain carried the Olympic torch in her hometown of Timmins, Ontario, this weekend. The star brought the flame over its last 400 yards to the cauldron in Hollinger Park while thousands of fans cheered her on amidst frigid temperatures—16 degrees below zero! She told the Associated Press, “I feel proud, very proud. It’s a highlight of my life to be able to carry the flame, to light the cauldron.”

‘Celebrity Apprentice’ Cast Announced

A new motley crew of famous and semi-famous personalities will go head-to-head this spring vying for the approval of real estate mogul Donald Trump on the third season of NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice.” The upcoming season will include baseball player Darryl Strawberry, chef Curtis Stone, Olympic athletes Summer Sanders and Michael Johnson, singers Cyndi Lauper and Bret Michaels, actress Holly Robinson Peete, wrestlers Goldberg and Maria Kanellis, comedians Sinbad and Carol Leifer, model Selita Ebanks, and reality star Sharon Osbourne. The participant who will likely receive the most initial attention is the controversial ex-Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich. The new season of “Celebrity Apprentice” will debut March 14 on NBC.

Vince Vaughn Weds

Actor Vince Vaughn married real estate agent Kyla Weber this weekend in a small ceremony in the actor’s hometown of Lake Forest, Illinois—a suburb of Chicago. The couple, who were introduced through mutual friends, had been engaged since Valentine’s Day. They exchanged vows before close family and friends in the Great Hall of the historic Armour House at Lake Forest Academy, according to reports.

Morgan Freeman Becomes the Voice of CBS News

Morgan Freeman has lended his voice to the opening credits of CBS’s nightly news program “CBS Evening News.” His voice replaces that of the late, legendary CBS news anchor Walter Cronkite who passed away last year. The actor reportedly recorded the introduction on New Year’s Day. The other major networks have also enlisted famous voices, namely that of Michael Douglas at NBC and Mike Rowe (host of “Dirty Jobs”) at ABC.
