Rapper Monkey Black, real name Leonardo Michael Flores Ozuna, died from a stabbing that happened outside a bar in Barcelona.
The Dominican Republic native was attacked outside a bar by two men; police are still investigating the killing, reported La Vanguardia.
The suspected murders left behind some personal objects at the bar, which should help the investigation.
Monkey Black had been living in Spain since 2010.
Santiago Matias, a friend of Black’s, told Dominican broadcaster Canal 11 that he and others had been trying to get the rapper to move back to the Dominican Republic, according to Fox News.
Black’s father Jose Altagracia--who doubled as his manager--said that he kept in close touch with his son but it had become hard to reach him.
Black’s mother said that Black’s remains are going to be brought to the country for burial.
