A mother of three saved her life and her children’s lives after she fatally shot a gang member who entered her home in Georgia.

Shaquita Green, of Cobb County, called police at around 2:30 a.m. after she shot an intruder inside her home.

“It was either him or me, and I wasn’t going,” Green told WSBTV. “My kids weren’t going to get hurt and they weren’t going to see me get hurt.”

The suspect was identified as Keandre Funches, 27.

Police said the incident was gang-related. Witnesses said that Green let Funches and another man, Javarian Mitchell, into her home before the shooting.

They were looking for Green’s husband, who wasn’t there.

“At some point, Funches threatened the residents with his own hand gun,” Marietta Officer Chuch McPhilamy told AJC.

Funches ordered Green and her children to the back of their home, demanding they speak to the father, she told WSB.

“That’s when I stepped in front of them and said, ‘You don’t have to do all of that,’” she said.

She then managed to get a gun and shot Funches, killing him.

Green was not charged with a crime and Mitchell was taken into police custody.

“I thank God it played out the way it did,” she said. “I hate that someone had to lose their life, but he shouldn’t have come and brought his [expletive] in my house, excuse my language.”
