The mother of a 3-year-old child discovered video footage of her pregnant friend—who was supposed to be babysitting her child—abusing the girl.
According to BET, the mother then uploaded the footage online and went to police. The footage was captured via a nannycam.
The mother, who was not named, told The Shade Room: “I helped this girl, paid her rent for her to ‘help’ babysit my baby while I work some nights. Be aware and careful who you leave your kids with ‘cause people are sick and it’s the people closest to you.”
The woman can be seen in the video with no clothing covering her bottom half while instructing the girl to “walk right here” while shoving her several times.
After sending the footage to officials, she said that the woman was arrested, according to The Shade Room.
“The girl’s mother posted the video, which she obtained from a nanny cam she had placed in her home. We spoke to the mother, and she let us know that this footage was taken Friday night,” it said.
The identities of the mother or the woman were not revealed by BET or The Shade Room.
People said in the comments section that the mother shouldn’t have left the girl with the woman at all.
“Friend or not you can’t leave your kids with everyone. Why put your daughter in that position just to prove a point..obviously the mother sensed something was wrong,” wrote one person.
According to the National Children’s Alliance nonprofit, around 700,000 kids are abused or are victims of neglect in the United States each year. But it says that about 80 percent of abusers are the children’s parents. “A parent of the child victim was the perpetrator in 78.1% of substantiated cases of child maltreatment,” the group says.
