In the attack on Nov. 17, 2016, Worley killed 7-year-old Tyler and 3-year-old Charlee Worley. According to court documents, the woman apparently told police she murdered the youngsters because she didn’t want her husband, Jason Worley, to gain custody of the children.
Emergency crews discovered the grisly crime scene at the family’s home in Darlington, about 40 miles northwest of Indianapolis.
The children were pronounced dead at the scene and Worley was treated for self-inflicted stab wounds to the neck.
Afterward, Worley called 911 to report the tragic killings.
The dispatcher asked her “You stabbed yourself and killed your two children?”
‘Mm-hm,’ Worley told dispatch, before stating that the children’s bodies were “in my daughter’s room on the floor.”
Later, the dispatcher asked her “And what caused you to do this today?”
Worley said “My husband wanted to divorce and wanted to take my kids. I don’t want him to have my kids.”
At one point the dispatcher asked Worley how she was feeling.
“Just tired,” she said. “I took a lot of Benadryl.”
Her husband, Jason Worley, told officers he was asleep downstairs when the attack occurred, according to CBS. He had filed for divorce one day before his wife killed their two children.
“We are shocked and saddened by the sudden loss of our beloved Tyler and Charlee. They meant the world to our family and words cannot describe our feelings of devastation. We are thankful for the outpouring of support from friends, family, and the community. We will grieve forever the loss of our precious little boy and girl.”
Sentencing for Brandi Worley is scheduled for March 19, 2018.
