HONG KONG—Glorious weather arrived for day-2 of the UK Sailmakers Winter Saturday Series organized by the Hebe Haven Yacht Club and held in Port Shelter on Saturday Nov 22, 2014. Five IRC, nine HKPN and eight Dragon Class boats took part in the 2-races bringing the series to its half way point.

IRC
In the IRC Division, “Mojito” (J111) continued to dominate with two more wins to stay at the head of the standings on 4-points. “Lighthorse” (Beneteau First 50) was missing on Day-1, but joined in the Day-2 races taking 2nd place in both races. “Outrageous” (Dubois 43) came 3rd in Race-3 and “Stingray” (GP26) took 3rd place in Race-4. With two discards possible all 5-boats still have a chance of series prizes.

HKPN
The much more variable results achieved by boats in the HKPN Division makes it much more difficult to predict the likely overall result. “Ichiban” (Beneteau First 405) has moved to head the series standings with 2-wins in Race-3 and -4, on Day-2. The next three places in Race-3 were taken by “Getafix” (X99), “Bits & Pieces” (B32) and “Kyte” (Jeanneau Selection 37) and in Race-4, “Applause” (Tripp 32) took 2nd place and “X-Terminator” (X99) came 3rd. The series top three are now “Ichiban” (8-points) followed by “Bits & Pieces” (16) and “Getafix” (19).

Dragon Class
A total of 11-Dragon Class boats have entered the series; “Shiva” and “Wyuna” missed Day-1 of the series while “Celines” (who finished 1st in Race-1 and 2nd in Race-2), “Wudi” and “Nattigheid” were absent on Day-2. “Davinloong” (D46), finished 1st in Race-3 followed by “Zephyr” (D55) and “Maiden Hong Kong” (D46). In Race-4 “Zephyr” came 1st, “Maiden Hong Kong” came 2nd and “Kam Loong” took 3rd place. The finishing order in Race-4 reflects the overall positions in the series with “Zephyr” leading on 11-points, “Maiden Hong Kong” second on 13-points and “Kam Loong” is in third place on 14-points.

Next Races
This coming Saturday (Nov 29) will be the first of 2-days of racing in the Sports Boat Class Championship series organized by the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club to be held in the Clearwater Bay area. The second day in the series will be held on Dec 6.

The next race day in the Hebe Haven Winter Saturday Series for Races-5 & -6 takes place on Dec 6 in Port Shelter.
