Modern farmhouse décor is essentially a blend of old and new –allowing you to incorporate the best of both worlds into your design scheme.

Modern farmhouse includes plenty of classic, vintage country details, offset with some modern touches. While these two styles may seem like they have nothing in common, don’t be fooled –when done right, old and new can combine effortlessly for beautiful results.

If you’re looking for a blend of old fashioned and modern, then a modern farmhouse décor scheme may be perfect for you. Here are a few tips to help you bring some farmhouse inspiration into your home.

Natural Accents

Wooden or wicker furniture, copper or stainless steel sinks and faucets, and wrought iron accessories can all help to convey the farmhouse look. Consider accenting with details like handmade throws or woven rugs to add to the natural farmhouse design scheme.

Décor

Adding classic white farmhouse dishes to your home is probably the easiest way to bring some farmhouse inspiration into your home. Plates can be put on display in a cabinet or some open shelves to bring the look full circle. Accessorize with jars, milk jugs, vintage signs, and antique finds for an especially country look.

Colors

Farmhouse colors should be simple and subdued, with a few vibrant or strong tones thrown in to keep things fresh and alive. Start with a basic color palette, like white –or neutrals, then add in some bold colors like splashes of red, navy, copper, or silver for some added visual interest.

Vintage Lighting

With lighting, consider both function and form. Keep your lighting simple, yet look for pieces that convey an antique or vintage feel. Consider adding some hurricane lamps to complete the look. Which farmhouse pieces would you welcome into your home? Share with us in the comments!
