Sidney Powell Drops Election Lawsuit Ahead of Inauguration

Lawyer Sidney Powell, who filed third-party election lawsuits on behalf of President Donald Trump, dropped one of her suits in Georgia where she challenged the outcome of the vote tally in the Peach State.

On Tuesday, Powell requested that the Supreme Court dismiss a case that she appealed to the court in December. But about a week ago, the Supreme Court denied her request to expedite the case.

“Pursuant to Supreme Court Rule 46.1, Petitioners submit this Stipulation of Dismissal, showing the agreement of all parties hereto that this case be dismissed, each party to bear their own costs. Therefore, Petitioners respectfully request that this case be dismissed,” the court filing (pdf) said. It was filed on behalf of several plaintiffs against Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp and Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensberger, among others.

Powell previously wrote that the “Kraken” lawsuit was part of a “larger effort to expose and reverse an unprecedented multistate conspiracy to steal the 2020 General Election” in Arizona, Georgia, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and others.

The Epoch Times has reached out to Powell for comment.

Powell said via the app Telegram: “For those inquiring about us dropping our lawsuit in Georgia, the delay by the Supreme Court in addressing the issues we raised rendered the issues moot on behalf of the specific clients we represented. We are by no means finished with what needs to be done to get to the bottom of this fraudulent election.”

The lawyer, who successfully defended retired Army Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, was introduced by the Trump legal team in November, although the team later distanced themselves from her and said she wasn’t working on their behalf.

“Let me say definitively: Sidney Powell is not part of our legal team,” Trump lawyer Rudy Guiliani told Newsmax in December. “She hasn’t been for five weeks. She is not a special counsel for the president. She does not speak for the president, nor does she speak for the administration. She speaks for herself.”

Powell was also banned from Twitter after the Jan. 6 storming of the Capitol building in Washington D.C. Flynn, Trump, and others were also barred from using the social media platform.

“The accounts have been suspended in line with our policy on Coordinated Harmful Activity,” a Twitter spokesperson said in a statement to news outlets on Friday and claimed her suspension had to do with the “QAnon” movement. “We’ve been clear that we will take strong enforcement action on behavior that has the potential to lead to offline harm, and given the renewed potential for violence surrounding this type of behavior in the coming days, we will permanently suspend accounts that are solely dedicated to sharing QAnon content.”

Powell, in a statement to The Epoch Times, said last week “was no warning at all” about her account being deleted, adding that “it is stunning.”

“Twitter’s actions and those of banks who shut down accounts of people who went to DC are fascism in its purest form ... It is a communist coup that has been long and well-planned,” she added.
