Missing plane found: Russian aviation officials said that a plane that went missing last summer was found by hunters in a forest swamp in the Sverdlovsk region.
The Antonov plane crashed around five miles from an airstrip in Serov, reported Radio Free Europe. The plane disappeared in June 2012.
The plane apparently crashed after it made an unauthorized takeoff. Twelve people were on board the craft, including the Serov city traffic police chief, reported RFE.
The Emergency Situations Ministry said officials found the remains of 11 crash victims.
Investigators believed the group took the flight to go drinking or fishing, reported Reuters.
Rescuers called off the search and rescue mission in November after no sign of the plane was found, reported the Moscow Times.
The shell of the Antonov was found around a dozen flattened trees and its wings were broken off.
Russia and other former Soviet Union republics have some of the worst air safety records in the world. Reuters pointed out that the accident rate is around three times worse than the world average.
