The Metrodome in Minneapolis saw part of its Teflon roof, which is inflatable, collapse under pressure from heavy snow on Saturday, the news agency said.

The postponement will give the 41-year-old Favre a reprieve and more time to recover from his ailing shoulder. Favre, who has NFL records in career passing yards and touchdowns, also has the NFL consecutive starts streak at 297, which would have been in danger had the Vikings and Giants played on Sunday, he told ESPN.

“I wasn’t playing [Sunday], but we'll see how it feels,” he told ESPN in a text message.

The game between the Vikings (5-7) and Giants (8-4), which was set to kick off at 1 p.m. EST on Sunday, will instead be played Monday night at 7:20 EST at Detroit’s Ford Field, the NFL has announced.
