A screenshot captured this week shows what appears to be Minecraft on the PlayStation 4, suggesting that development for that version and the Xbox One version are underway.

The website Gameranx published a photo of a 4J photo that was tweeted out a few days ago. It shows an autosave notification via the PlayStation 4.

Meanwhile, the PS4 Dualshock 4 controllers and what appears to be an Xbox One controller are seen in the photo. Next to them is the PS Vita.

4J didn’t make any mention of Minecraft in the tweet, but was talking about a version of Perfect Dark.

After the tweet was sent out, a number of Twitter users asked the company about a release date and some said the company added the Xbox One controller, PS4 screenshot, and Vita as a hint.

“Very clever 4 very clever,” one person tweeted. “Nice to see the PS Vita and PS4 versions are coming along :D,” added another.

Minecraft versions for the PS4 and Xbox One are in development, Mojang has confirmed. Daniel Kaplan, a manager, told Xbox Magazine earlier this month that “its coming, eventually!”

And a week ago, Mojang said work is being done for the PS4 and Xbox One editions

“Here is the full change log. I hope you will enjoy it and for you guys asking about the Xbox One and Playstation 4 edition: It is being worked on as we speak! I got no proper dates yet, but hopefully soon we can tell you!” the firm said in an update.

A Microsoft executive indicated that the game’s development for the Xbox One is going along swimmingly.

“I talked to [4J Studios] last night,” Phil Spencer, vice president of Microsoft Game Studios, told IGN. “They feel really good about the progress that they’re making. It’s their game, and it'd be Mojang’s game. We graciously host it on our platform.

“But unlike on 360 where they had never been on console before and the developer relationship, I‘ll say, was very tight from the beginning, this is something that’s really in their hands now. They’re a full-fledged developer in every sense. They control the [release] date of that, but I’ll tell people that we’re getting really close.”

“I talked with Notch [aka Mojang founder Markus Persson] last night, and they’re really excited about the quality.”
