The release of Miley Cyrus’s new video Who Owns My Heart is leaving many fans wondering whether she is going the way of former teen stars like Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan.

Her new video Who Owns My Heart is being widely panned as too racy for the majority of her fans, who are mostly young teenage girls.

The influential group Parents’ Television Council blasted the young singer and her new video, saying that it sends a wrong message.

“It is unfortunate that she would participate in such a ... video. It sends messages to her fanbase that are diametrically opposed to everything she has done up to this point,” said Tim Winter, the organization’s president, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Meanwhile it appears the 17-year-old’s parents are helpless in the face of Cyrus’s new image.

“Miley’s mom, Tish, got upset when people would tell her her daughter was being wild, but ... she’s realizing it herself,” HollywoodLife.com quoted a friend of the Cyrus family saying.

It seems the general public shares this view. An online survey done on Friday by the popular USmagazine.com website showed 75 percent of the respondents believe the video was too racy.

Cyrus has been one of the entertainment industry’s cleanest music stars to date, compared with others such as Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan and now Ke$ha.

But her latest moves are leading many to question whether Cyrus will come out of her teen years with a clean reputation.
