Singer Miley Cyrus and her Australian fiancé, actor Liam Hemsworth, have donated $500,000 to charity after losing their Malibu home, which was destroyed in a Southern California wildfire.

The destructive Woolsey Fire, which burned more than 480 structures and killed two people, has spread to 97,600 acres. It was 47 percent contained on the morning of Nov. 14.

“Miley and Liam lost their home but are very grateful to be safe along with their animals!” said a representative for Cyrus in a statement to The Associated Press on Nov. 13. “Their community and state are very special to them and they want to give back to the place that has created so many beautiful memories for themselves and others.”

Cyrus and Hemsworth both posted pictures of their house on social media this week, with not much remaining except for the word “LOVE” in large scorched concrete letters in front of a burned-out wall.

“Our home before and after the devastating #WoolsleyFire,” wrote Cyrus on Twitter on Nov. 14.

“It’s been a heartbreaking few days. This is what’s left of my house. Love,” said Hemsworth in a caption on Instagram on Nov. 13.

Cyrus urged people to donate anything they could to local organizations to help “restore Malibu’s magic.” The couple also gave $500,000 to The Malibu Foundation through the non-profit Cyrus started in 2014, The Happy Hippie Foundation.

“These funds will be used for those in financial need, emergency relief assistance, community rebuilding, wildfire prevention and climate change resilience,” Cyrus’s statement read.

“Many people in Malibu and surrounding areas in California have lost their homes also and my heart goes out to everyone who was affected by these fires,” wrote Hemsworth in his post. “I spent the day in Malibu yesterday and it was amazing to see the community pulling together to help each other out in any way they can. Malibu is a strong community and this event is only going to make it stronger.”

“I love you Malibu. Thank you to all the hero firefighters around California. It’s going to be a journey to rebuild. Stay strong all,” he continued.

Other celebrities who lost their homes in the fire include musicians Neil Young and Robin Thicke, as well as actors Gerard Butler and Shannen Doherty. Many others were forced to evacuate.

Hemsworth is best known for his roles in the films “The Hunger Games” and “Independence Day: Resurgence.” He met Cyrus in 2009 on the set of “The Last Song,” where they co-starred as love interests.

Cyrus is the daughter of famous country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, and they both starred on the hit Disney series “Hannah Montana” as a father-daughter duo from 2006 to 2011.
