The most popular version of Windows, which happens to be Windows 7, has gotten the axe from Microsoft in an attempt by the famous software company to prompt customers to move to Windows 8 or even Windows 8.1. More precisely Microsoft has put an end to the free support for Windows 7.
In case you use Windows 7 now (and 55 per cent of all PCs around the world do) you should not worry too much – Windows 7 will keep on working and will still get various fixes and updates via Windows Update until January 14, 2020 but if you run into an uncommon or unfixed problem and want to get it solved, you will have to pay Microsoft for this service.
To avoid this fate you will have to upgrade, like it or not.
Windows 7 will still remain on the market as numerous computer vendors currently offer systems with Windows 7 on them. In addition when Microsoft decides to withdraw Windows 7 from the market, the company will do so a year before the end of sales date of Windows 7.
