Michele Fiore, Nevada Assemblywoman, and Relatives Pose With Guns for Family Christmas Photo
A Nevada Assemblywoman created a stir when she posted her family’s Christmas photo.
Michele Fiore, a Republican, poses with some of her family members, including her mother, in the picture and most of them are holding guns, including a young child.
While three of the children in the picture are the only ones not holding guns, Jake–one of Michele’s grandchildren who is reportedly five years old–is holding a Walther p22.
“It’s up to Americans to protect America. We’re just your ordinary American family.-With love & liberty, Michele,” the elected official wrote in the caption.
The picture generated controversy coming just days before the California massacre and some calls for stricter gun laws.
“It is sick and mocks the reason for the existence of Christmas and has absolutely NOTHING to do with why the holiday is celebrated,” said one Facebook user.
“This picture is propaganda and incendiary, and a little sad,” added another.
But others commented in support.
“Love this picture thank you for being you and you have a Merry Merry Christmas,” said one.
“Girl, you are absolutely my hero! You are the epitome of what this nation is about,” said another.
Fiore, who also recently posted a picture of herself with a gun next to a horse, is a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment, and among her measures since being elected has been sponsoring a bill that would allow conceal and carry of firearms for self-defense on college campuses, in grade schools, and in daycares.
“If these young, hot little girls on campus have a firearm, I wonder how many men will want to assault them,” she told the New York Times.
“The sexual assaults that are occurring would go down once these sexual predators get a bullet in their head.”
