Vick played for the Falcons for several years before being imprisoned for being involved in a running a dog-fighting ring. Blank recalled to the Associated Press what the Falcons went through when their franchise quarterback was shipped off.
"You don't let the highs get too high, and you don't let the lows get too low,” Blank said in an exclusive interview with the agency.
"That was very difficult," Blank said, recalling Vick’s conviction, "because of the relationship this city, the fans, had with Michael, and the fact that a number of us had a trust relationship with him."
The Falcons currently have the best NFC record at 11-2 and are tied with the New England Patriots for having the best record in the league.
After the Vick era, Blank drafted Matt Ryan, the current starting quarterback, a highly capable QB who is reaching the upper echelons of the league.
Blank said that he is happy for Vick resurrecting his career.
"I'm happy for him, I'm happy for the NFL, I'm happy for the Eagles," he told AP.
However, he said won’t be happy if Vick and the Eagles are playing them during a potential playoff game.
"The only time I won't be happy is when we're playing each other,” Blank added. “But we'll go out there and compete and treat him like any other quarterback we play."
Last Sunday, Vick led the Eagles to a close win over the Dallas Cowboys, throwing for 270 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. Many analysts consider him a likely candidate for MVP due to his stellar performances.
