Michael Phelps is going to appear in “Suits” after proclaiming to his 1.4 million Twitter followers that he was enjoying season 3 of USA Network’s popular show.
After months of negotiations, Phelps finally filmed as himself in a memorable cameo.
Phelps appears on March 6 in the midseason premiere of the show. He appears “as one of the top names Harvey has been unable to close as a client,” reported the Hollywood Reporter.
The wooing of Phelps by the show’s producers took a long time, beginning with the tweet that he sent out on July 30 proclaiming “Suits season three is awesooommeee!!!”
Along the way, producer Charlie Ebersol, a friend of Phelps, reached out to the star swimmer. Stars Patrick J. Adams, Sarah Rafferty, and Maghan Markle, began doing selfies with life-size cardboard cutouts of Phelps and posting them on Instagram. And producers finally figured out how to fit him into the show.
Another big target for the producers, Apolo Anton Ohno, is featured in an upcoming episode of the show.
