Last Tuesday, television icon Ed McMahon died at the age of 86 after suffering from a number of health problems. On Thursday, “Charlie’s Angels” star Farrah Fawcett, 62, lost her hard-fought battle with cancer. Later that same day “The King of Pop,” Michael Jackson, died suddenly after reportedly going into cardiac arrest. Jackson was 50. Here a brief look at their lives and some wisdom they gained through their experience.

Michael Jackson (1958-2009)

Known around the world as The King of Pop, Michael Jackson was a legend in his own time. Arguably one of the most famous people of the last century, his accomplishments as a recording artist, actor, and businessman could fill volumes. He has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice and holds the Guinness World Record for “Most Successful Entertainer of All Time.” He is survived by his three children.

‘The greatest education in the world is watching the masters at work.’—Michael Jackson

‘The meaning of life is contained in every single expression of life. It is present in the infinity of forms and phenomena that exist in all of creation.’—Michael Jackson

‘In a world filled with hate, we must still dare to hope. In a world filled with anger, we must still dare to comfort. In a world filled with despair, we must still dare to dream. And in a world filled with distrust, we must still dare to believe.”—Michael Jackson

Farrah Fawcett was an award-winning actress who was best known for her role in the television series Charlie’s Angels. A cultural icon, her infamous picture in a red bathing suit holds the record for being the best-selling pinup poster of all time and her hairstyle was mimicked by seemingly every American girl in the 1970s. Earlier in life she attended The University of Texas at Austin, but left before graduating to pursue acting. Upon her death she was engaged to actor Ryan O’Neal with whom she has one son.
