Michael J. Fox was honored by the German show business industry over the weekend, receiving the prestigious Golden Camera award for lifetime achievement, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Danny DeVito, also a Golden Camera recipient, presented Fox with the award.

DeVito lauded Fox for his dedication to the fight against Parkinson’s disease, a illness that has afflicted the actor for 20 years.

“It was such a shock to hear he had Parkinson’s,” DeVito said, according to the report. “It would have devastated most people but he took it as a challenge and approached it with the enthusiasm and passion of a great actor.”

Fox received a standing ovation as he took the award. “I remember back in 1985 getting an award for best newcomer,” Fox said, according to the Reporter. “Now I’m up on stage with Danny DeVito as one of the old timers.”

Renee Zellweger and John Travolta were also honored, according to the Toronto Sun. Travolta nabbed the Best International Actor Prize and Zellweger won the Best International Actress Prize.

“I am so honored to be part of the same group of great artists who have received this honor over the last 46 years,” she said, according to the Sun.

Germany’s leading TV magazine Hoerzu said that Zellweger “has the talent to make her characters natural, authentic, and convincing,” according to Variety.
