Meryl Davis has congratulated her Olympic figure skating partner Charlie White on his engagement to Tanith Belbin.

White announced the engagement this week, posting a photo of the pair smiling next to a lake. The engagement ring shines on Belbin’s hand.

“Couldn’t ask for a more beautiful setting for the best time in our life! she said yes!!!” White wrote.

Davis caught the news early and took to Twitter to congratulate the couple.

“Congrats to these two! Beautiful girl, beautiful [diamond ring emoji]! Good work Charlie White.”

Davis is probably relieved as well because rumors about her and White dating have been flying around for years because they do such a good job on the ice.

White told People earlier this year that Belbin, a former ice dancer, has a unique perspective on the relationship between him and Davis.

“She won the silver medal in 2006 with her partner Ben Agosto, and people were always like, ‘Are you guys dating?’” White said. “It’s just something you get as dancers. [Her understanding] makes my life so much easier.”

White elaborated on how he and Davis present themselves as a couple on the ice.

“It’s tough because we always presented ourselves as a package and we didn’t really talk much about our personal lives because we just didn’t care to,” he explained.

“And I think people were hopeful [that we were a couple] because on the ice we were able to portray people who are in relationships, and then people want to believe. We take it as a compliment.”

Meanwhile, Davis has recently been linked to another dancing partner--Maksim Chmerkovskiy, who danced with her on the latest season of Dancing with the Stars.

The obvious connection between the two led to a spate of rumors but “Maks” is currently in India to guest judge on the country’s version of “DWTS,” and it appears that the pair are not a couple.
