MeowChat App: What is it? Ask.FM Users Wonder Why

MeowChat is again trending on Twitter, which means that a likely huge number of invites are being sent out.

Late last month, a flood of Facebook notifications were sent out to users across the US and UK asking them if they want to download MeowChat.

Apparently on Thursday evening, the same thing was happening.

Twitter users were apparently complaining of invites on Ask.fm.

“You try MeowChat yet? — Ohhh now I remember! I downloaded the app but I don’t know anyone who’s using it,” one person wrote.

Added another: “So many cuties on this MeowChat — wtf is this meow thing like is it talking 2 cats or???”

“Think I saw u on MeowChat? — i don’t think so? i dont even know what that is,” one person said. Many, many more messages with a similar premise were being tweeted out.

According to The Mirror, MeowChat is “kind of a cross between an instant messaging app - like WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger - and a dating app.”

It allows users to send text and picture messages. There’s also a lot of pictures of cats.

The app has been around for several months. However, the app was relaunched last month with a random chat feature.

When users are asked to install the app, it then asks them to connect their account to a Facebook account. After that it asks users if they can send out invites to all their friends.
