A Menifee autistic boy, Terry Dewayne Smith, went missing, prompting authorities in the Southern California city to search for him.

The 11-year-old boy, was last seen on Saturday night, reported ABC-7 TV.

“The child is autistic. He does have the mental capacity of a 7-year-old,” Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputy Albert Martinez told the station.

Officials are asking the public to aid in the search for the boy, who is around 76 pounds and is 4 feet, 8 inches tall, reported NBC News. Smith has blond hair and blue eyes.

“It’s going to be in the hundred-degree range today, and we need to get the boy found,” Lt. Charlie Wilhite, with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, told NBC. “Those are very rugged foothills up there. There are a lot of rocks and areas not accesible by vehicle. There are a lot of areas where you might not see somebody unless you were right on top of them.”

Riverside County sheriff’s Deputy Albert Martinez told Patch.com that more than 100 volunteers were searching for Smith on Sunday. Another 200 residents were predicted to help on Monday.

“At this point, there’s no evidence pointing that [he was taken],” Martinez told the website.  “Right now, all we have is that he probably wandered off.”
