Mick Jagger’s new girlfriend has been identified as Melanie Hamrick, a ballerina who is only 27 years old.
Hamrick met Jagger in March in Tokyo and they exchanged details at the time. Hamrick was part of a group of dancers from the American Ballet Theatre allowed backstage at the Rolling Stone concert and introduced to the band.
The young dancer was engaged to fellow dancer Jose Manuel Carreno at the time, but that engagement was later broken off.
A spokesman for Jagger confirmed to the Daily Mail that Hamrick and Jagger met than, but a source close to the rocker said that the first “liaison” with the dancer didn’t take place until 10 days ago in Zurich.
That’s when photos of Jagger, 70, was pictured with a then-unknown woman on the balcony of his hotel, sparking a firestorm of inquiry and speculation.
The day that Hamrick and Jagger originally met was two weeks before Jagger’s girlfriend L'Wren Scott, 49, committed suicide.
Another source told the Sun: “After her death, Melanie reached out and they met in New York as friends. He invited her to Zurich to see the Stones and that’s when things became intimate between them.”

Hamrick lives on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, just three miles from the home that Jagger and Scott shared.
Friends of the dancer say that they’re not sure why she was in Zurich.
“Ever since the photos emerged Mel has kept her head down hardly stepping out from her apartment. Talk has been rife about their fling with many believing it wasn’t just a coincidence the two were in Zurich together following the ambassador’s reception in Japan,” one said.
“We all knew it was Mel but many others got the wrong end of the stick when they thought it was principal dancer Diana Vishneva. People put two and two together and came up with five because Diana was pictured meeting Mick during the party in Tokyo. But it was Mel on the balcony. They can look quite similar.”
Hamrick allegedly told a friend after she was identified “They’ve found me! They’ve found me!” but hasn’t commented publicly.
According to an article in the San Francisco Chronicle, Hamrick’s engagement with Carreno was broken off after a six year romantic relationship when Carreno moved across the country to take a job as artistic director of Ballet San Jose.
“Carreno talks like a person who has come to the South Bay for the long run, which meant leaving behind his fiancee, American Ballet Theatre dancer Melanie Hamrick,” the paper reported.
