Caroline McCain, editor of The Roundup, wrote in a Medium post last Friday that Trump should not have questioned her grandfather’s status as a war hero. Her comments were in reaction to Trump’s “I like people who weren’t captured” comment last summer about the senator, who was a Vietnam War prisoner of war.

“I’ve been nursing a grudge ever since. Trump’s statement, in my view, is unforgivable, and speaks to the kind of man he is: a coward who has never faced danger in his life, an insecure brat who shirked duty for comfort, and a man who is wholly unfit to serve as commander-in-chief,” she wrote, adding that “Donald Trump lost my respect that day, and he can never gain it back.”
