Meghan McCain, the daughter of Sen. John McCain, slammed Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s comments about the parents of a slain American soldier.

“What kind of barbarian would attack the parents of a fallen soldier, but oh yeah it’s the same person who attacks POW’s,” Meghan McCain, an author and Fox News channel host, tweeted Saturday. The tweet was posted after his response to a speech given by Khizr Khan, the father of the U.S. Army soldier, during the Democratic National Convention, challenging Trump’s proposed ban on Muslim immigrants.

“Have you ever been to Arlington Cemetery? Go look at the graves of brave patriots who died defending the United States of America. You will see all faiths, genders and ethnicities,” Khan said. “You have sacrificed nothing and no one.”

On Saturday, Trump told George Stephanopoulos of ABC News that Khan’s wife, while on stage, “was standing there” and “she had nothing to say.” He added, “She probably, maybe she wasn’t allowed to have anything to say. You tell me.”

Trump said in a statement that Khan had “no right” to claim that he has never read the constitution “and say many other inaccurate things” during the speech.

Caroline McCain, editor of The Roundup, wrote in a Medium post last Friday that Trump should not have questioned her grandfather’s status as a war hero. Her comments were in reaction to Trump’s “I like people who weren’t captured” comment last summer about the senator, who was a Vietnam War prisoner of war.

“I’ve been nursing a grudge ever since. Trump’s statement, in my view, is unforgivable, and speaks to the kind of man he is: a coward who has never faced danger in his life, an insecure brat who shirked duty for comfort, and a man who is wholly unfit to serve as commander-in-chief,” she wrote, adding that “Donald Trump lost my respect that day, and he can never gain it back.”
