McDonald’s Inc., the world’s largest restaurant chain, said this week that it plans to double the number of outlets in China, the world’s most populous country.
According to a report by Dow Jones, McDonald’s aims to increase its number of stores in China from 1,100 to 2,000 in three years, said Tim Fenton, the company’s Far East president. McDonald’s also opened its first Hamburger University in Shanghai, to train hoards of new managers to support the expansion.
The company opened its first hamburger outlet in the communist country in 1990 in Southern China.
