Same-store sales at fast food chain McDonald’s Corp. climbed 4.8 percent last month as consumers around the world are still under belt-tightening mode due to the weak economy.
Jim Skinner, company CEO, said this week that the higher sales are due to brisk sales of its iced McCafe drinks, chicken McNuggets, and children’s meals.
Sales in the United States increased 3.4 percent. Sales were highest in Europe, where “May comparable sales increased 5.7 percent driven by positive sales growth in France, Germany, the U.K., and Russia,” according to a company media release.
