Floyd Mayweather revealed what he told Conor McGregor during their bout.
McGregor, 29, a UFC fighter, fought well during the first three rounds, but Mayweather quickly turned it around.
He told McGregor: “Is that all you’ve got?”
After the referee had come to a conclusion on the fifth round, Mayweather lost his cool and shoved McGregor after the bell while behind the scorecard and said to him:
“You still haven’t knocked me out? You said it wouldn’t go past four, when are you going to use your power?” he told him.
After the sixth and seventh rounds, McGregor started to fade.
In Round 10, Mayweather ended the fight via a TKO.
“I’m not the same fighter I was 21 years ago. I’m not the same fighter I was 10 years ago. I’m not even the same fighter I was two years ago,” the 40-year-old Mayweather said before the fight, ESPN reported.
After he won, snagging a 50-0 record, the boxer announced his retirement.
“This is my last fight, ladies and gentleman. For sure, this is my last fight,” he said in the ring after the bout ended.
During the post-fight, Mayweather said that he had a difficult time training.
He said, “We had a cool training camp, but I didn’t do any sparring for the last month,” the New York Post reported. “My hands are real brittle and I wanted them to be solid when I came out here.”
“If I had serious hard injury I wouldn’t have been able to hit so hard.”
Of McGregor, who'd never boxed professionally before, Mayweather said he was better than anticipated.
“He was solid, but I’ve been off for a couple of years and I’m older now,” he said. “I still have a hell of an IQ and I’m still a thinker. His punching power is solid but I’ve felt it before so I kept coming forward. It wasn’t the kind of power that stopped me coming forward.”
He added: “I told you guys I'd come straight ahead. I could have sat back and counter-punched. My plan was to let him shoot heavy shots and take him down the stretch. I wanted to let him shoot heavy shots from the beginning.”
Reports have indicated that Mayweather may make as much as $300 million ($100 million guaranteed, win or lose) and McGregor might make $100 million.
