Mayweather Claims He ‘Carried’ McGregor During Boxing Match

Months after their “superfight,” Floyd Mayweather is now claiming that he “carried” Conor McGregor.

“Everybody trying to protest the Mayweather/McGregor fight, but I’m gonna tell you all the truth,” Mayweather said, according to Yahoo. “You know I carried McGregor. You know I made it look good for you all.”

McGregor, an MMA fighter, fought his first boxing match against the undefeated Mayweather, who had been retired before taking the fight. Mayweather ultimately stopped McGregor via knockout in the 10th round.

McGregor, meanwhile, said that if the two fought again, he’s confident he’d win.

“If it happened in a rematch, it’s a simple adjustment of me having a heavier sparring partner coming in, in the later rounds, and lean on me and walk me down. Where as in my sparring in the lead up to the camp, we were always against fast, twitchy, light on their toes opponent with a Philly shell style and their backs against the ropes. Never against forward pressure because he’s never fought like that so it took us by surprise and I got beat,” McGregor said, according to BoxingScene.com.

“If I had a rematch, I would correct that and I would beat him. He’s retired. I’m not going to start calling him out of retirement. I’m going to leave him to it. If it happens, maybe it will, who knows — I would beat him no doubt.”

It was reported that Mayweather likely made more than $100 million for the fight.

Mayweather hasn’t said anything about a potential rematch, but there have been recent videos of him training, Yahoo reported.
