Matt Lauer Still Sending Notes to ‘Today’ Producer, Report Claims

Fired “Today” host Matt Lauer is still sending notes to the show’s producers despite no longer being involved with the popular morning program.

Lauer, who co-hosted the top of the program every morning with Savannah Guthrie, was fired late last year after being accused of inappropriate sexual conduct.

Sources told the New York Post that Lauer recently sent a producer an email saying he felt the producers used the wrong music to kick off a segment.

“Lauer’s missives have not been warmly received by ‘Today’ staff,” according to the Post.

Lauer was replaced by Hota Kotb, who had been co-hosting the 10 a.m. hour previously.

He reached out to Kotb after she received the promotion, congratulating her and giving her advice.

Both Guthrie and Kotb have spoken positively about Lauer after the firing.

Lauer denied the claims of inappropriate sexual interaction but also admitted, “There is enough truth in these stories to make me feel embarrassed and ashamed.”

Guthrie and Kotb are the first all-female team to headline the “Today” show in the show’s 65-year history.

Also this week, it emerged that Kotb will make significantly less than Lauer was making, but she is hopeful that she will make more in the future after headling the show for several years.
