A gigantic, 13,000-gallon aquarium suddenly burst early Sunday morning, spilling water all over the first and second floors of a Florida casino, forcing it to close two rooms.
A mysterious crack appeared in the aquarium around midnight Sunday. According to the Palm Beach Post, the casino was still closed Monday night.
“All we heard was a big bang and all the water started shooting out the top of the tank,” said Lucille Sfalanga, who was in the Gulfstream Racing and Casino Park in Hallandale Beach when the incident occurred, according to the Orlando Sun Sentinel. “It sounded like a cannon,” Sfalanga added.
The floor-to-ceiling tank held sharks, lionfish, and a puffer. Fortunately, around 3,000 gallons of water stayed in the aquarium, allowing employees to keep the fish safe, according to the Post. In all, more than 100 fish were in the tank, reported the Sentinel.
“The good news is, all the fish survived,” said Mike Couch, the head of gaming at the casino.
