Essex County in Massachusetts was under a flash flood warning on late Monday afternoon.
The National Weather Service said that central and northern Essex County will be under the warning until 5:30 p.m.
The agency said that thunderstorms were producing heavy rain across the area, with preliminary estimates saying that between 1 and 2 inches of rain have already fell.
With this in mind, “flash flooding appears likely,” the agency said.
MyFoxBoston.com reported flooding in Springfield, Fitchburg, and Lowell.
Earlier on Monday, there were reports of a funnel cloud or possible tornado in Danvers.
