Market Like The Supplement Industry, Pump It Up!

|Updated:

The supplement industry does a great job in the fact that they market so well that the industry as a whole is booming. Many times the supplement industry can take advantage of the American way of wanting results immediately. Supplements that have no proven results can advertise with before and after pictures of people who are just airbrushed and spray tanned. This being said, the supplement industry is made up of the have and the have nots. Most of the time, the companies that have been around the longest and put the most money into their products stand the test of time. This is what is making the supplement industry grow exponentially year after year.

Knowing Who To Market To

Many teenagers have seen magazines of fitness models who have abs that seem to go on for days. When one of these fitness models or bodybuilders is seen on the internet endorsing these supplements, it catches the attention people who want to attain that body. Supplement companies do a great job of using celebrity or semi celebrity with a great body to be the face of their line. This attracts many customers who want to be the next Ronnie Coleman or lose weight like Chumlee. While many of the spokespeople use the supplements that they endorse, this is by no means the main reason for their transformation. Everyone has seen a Hydroxycut commercial and have wondered to themselves if it actually works after seeing the before and after pictures. This spurs thought and action which is the staple of good marketing and sales conversion.

They Offer a Quick Fix and Use Buzzwords Wisely

Products that offer a quick fix are always the easiest to market, whether it is a universal remote or the newest and quickest way to lose weight. With the fast paced life of today’s America, everybody wants to reach their goals as quickly as possible without changing their lifestyle. If you have seen any commercial saying that in six weeks you could have abs like a guy who works out for a living and bought that product hence the marketing attracted and converted you into a sale. Saying that the supplement industry preys on people who want quick results is a false statement because most people want results as quickly as possible. The buzzwords that are used in the commercials and ads are also used in quite a powerful way. Being a fitness junkie myself, my Facebook timeline is filled with “the newest legal secret supplement that nobody has heard of!” I'll be honest, I click on them from time to time but getting a conversion off of me will take more than a couple of exclamation points.

Some Supplements Actually Work!

Since many of the supplements are not regulated by the FDA, many people do not know what even goes into the supplements that they are taking. The best companies do not shroud what is in their supplements but are very forthcoming giving money back guarantees even if you use an entire bottle of their product. Some companies even have their own lab tests which is a staple of good marketing. This shows that care goes into their product as well as helps in their marketing when they can say that their product is of a certain percentage of purity. There is no better way of marketing your product than offering a product that actually delivers results.

Other industries should take notice of how the supplement industry is working and growing. Using the public’s body image concerns may seem unethical but the fashion industry is much more to blame for the problems with body image. This is because there has been airbrushing of some of the most beautiful people in the world which lends itself to make people think that certain levels of beauty are attainable when rather they were made on a photo editing software.
