Mark Schwarzer Retires from Socceroos, Effective Immediately

Mark Schwarzer, goalkeeper, said he is retiring from the Socceroos soccer team on Tuesday.

The retirement if effective immediately, reported Jim Wilson of 7 News Sydney.

Schwarzer had already announced his retirement date, but had said that it wouldn’t be until after the 2014 World Cup, according to reports from earlier this year.

Schwarzer is a veteran goalkeeper for the Socceroos.
