Marion “Suge” Knight, the former head of Death Row Records and mogul who reportedly hung Vanilla Ice from a balcony, was apparently shot at a pre-Video Music Awards party, according to reports.

TMZ and other media entities are saying that he was shot at a party on the Sunset Strip in Southern California.

The website said that he is currently in intensive care at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles.

Gunshots hit Knight, 49, at a party hosted by Chris Brown. Justin Bieber was also in attendance.

A video posted by TMZ shows Knight being placed into a police car after the shooting. He was one of three victims.

Knight was shot in the stomach and in the arm. He was able to walk out of the nightclub on his own.

TMZ wrote: “Tyson Beckford, Robert Ri'chard and Apple de Ap all tell TMZ ... they were inside the pre-VMA party hosted by Chris Brown when they heard 4 shots ring out inside the club. Suge walked out on his own power ... a cop spotted him and walked the rap mogul to the police car where Suge sat.  Suge was then put in an ambulance and taken to a local hospital.”

“It’s disappointing that we as a society can’t have fun or enjoy ourselves without any altercations sometimes,” Brown tweeted, according to USA Today.

Knight, who is said to have a net worth of around $200,000, was in the car in 1996 when rapper Tupac Shakur was shot in Las Vegas. There have been theories that he orchestrated the killing of Shakur along with fellow rapper Biggie Smalls, who was killed a year later.

Since 1996, Knight has been in and out of prison a number of times, including for probation violations. He was arrested in 2008 on drug and aggravated assault charges.

In 2012, Knight was arrested in Las Vegas after police found marijuana in his vehicle. He’s currently on three years unsupervised probation.

Knight was also shot in 2005 at a Kanye West-hosted party in Miami.
