Pictures of Marion Cotillard on the set of “The Dark Knight Rises” in Pittsburgh sparked media attention and buzz that the French-born, Oscar winning actress will appear in the movie as a villain.

Marion Cotillard’s official website tells any curious visitors that she will play a minor role in the movie as Bruce Wayne’s employee Miranda Tate. However, according to recent photos from the Pittsburg movie set where “The Dark Knight Rises” has been filming, Cotillard appears in a costume followed by army dressed actors with full gear.

Cotillard’s outfit, a burgundy robe with black and red lining, suggests her role might be as villain Talia Al Ghul, the daughter of Batman’s former enemy Ra’s Al Ghul, according to the International Business Times.

“The Dark Knight Rises” is itself generating plenty of buzz, particularly in Pittsburgh, where filming has been taking place. The Heinz field was home to the filming, and the Pittsburgh Steelers even play a cameo in the film as the fictional Gotham Rogues, according to MTV. Batman nemesis Bane (played by British actor Tom Hardy) is also believed to have been present in the shooting, making an appearance amidst explosion and chaos to establish himself as Gotham’s new dark enemy.

Marion Cotillard is now a household name in America thanks to her appearance in “Inception”. She is well-known in France, and her Oscar winning performance was a portrayal of Édith Piaf in “La Vie en Rose”. She also stars in “Midnight in Paris.”

Although her part seems small compared to the Catwoman character (played by Anne Hathaway), Talia was one of Batman’s love interests in the DC Comics story. She was also responsible for the fall of the superhero. Fans will need to wait and see what surprises director Christopher Nolan will bring to the big screen.

Real Life Woes - New York Stalker

In the meantime, in real life, Cotillard is battling a villain herself, a female stalker. Her stalker, 30-year-old Teresa Yuan from Queens New York, was arrested by the FBI this past Thursday. Yuan was let out on $50,000 bail the following day.

Yuan posted a video on Cotillard’s fansite on July 23rd, saying “The guilt and sorrow I feel now, I won’t feel after it happens. After it happens I'll feel no regrets whatsoever ...,” according to NY Daily News.

FBI Agent Bradford Price who filed the complaint to the Brooklyn Federal Court, said that Cotillard and family “became concerned for their physical safety,” according to the local newspaper.

Concerns arose earlier in April when the FBI were informed about the threatening videos and emails posted on the fan site. Things got much more serious when the accused stalker revealed knowledge of Cotillard’s travel information and stated her intention of following the actress.
